Hello
Welcome to my first Geography blog post :)
so....to start off I'd better tell you what the blog is about. Mr.Lydon has asked us all to do a blog about a topic with geography and related to geography. So I decided to dance because he said all things are related to geography.
Another thing is.....computers don't really mix with me so sorry in advance for the spelling errors and missing things!"
First of all I have to say that i don't think that dance can be located to a country the origins of dance are not in one country. Dance has to be as old as man because from the beginning we were dancing!! God created man, man moved = dance!:)
First of all we are at the moment being LabanotationistsIt means were studying dance and of course were being geological people ;).
Hope you read the blog it's not going to be that bad i hope!

I'm on a role so I'll keep talking about dancing:
The next country I'd like to talk about is Scotland
Scotland have a very distinct style of dance called the Highland Dance. This is taught in most Scotish schools and is a very liverly dance some of the most common and well known dances are the Sword dance and the highland Fling
http://www.ukstudentlife.com/Ideas/Album/HighlandGames.htm
Most of the Highland dancing is performed at local events and at feastivals. They usually dance to Bagpipes which originate from Scotland and they have special outfits which I'll talk about later

Chinese dancing!
Next type of dancing is going to be from China.
China has so many different places and cultures like Africa that i decided that once again I could only write about one particular style. The type of dance I decided to talk about is 'wuju'. This is the chinese theatrical dance.
This is really used in opera in china like there national opera the peking or also called Bejing. In theatrical dance, vignettes are performed, these frame a moment in that is supposed to last longer than the narrative would. Most of the costume styles they wear are in the same style of the peking. A lot of folding fans are used to make the performance more visual.

Chinese wuju themes come from many different things some are based on fairy tales and literary references. The dances are often accompanied by traditional Chinese music played with a variety of instruments such as er-hu and pi-pa which are traditional chinese instruments.

African Dancing
Where: Africa!
So the next post is about dancing in Africa:
There are loads of different types of dances in Africa and each of them are really different because of there characteristics and different cultures in different areas. The dances in Africa are used to celebrate worship, praise, funerals, festivals and read poetry.
The most commenly used instrument in Africa is the voice because they sing loads when they dance. The great thing is that in Africa whether your rich or poor or no matter where your from you can dance with everyone.

Where is dance from? The first signs of dance!
So dance the first type of dance. The first records they have of dance is from the cave painting found in caves obviously from cavemen. The earliest known European cave paintings date to 32,000 years ago. When Marcelino Sanz de Sautuola first encountered the Magdalanian paintings of the Altmira cave, Cantabria, Spain in 1879 people think that dance was first used for worshipping people and gods. The beat of music they danced to was strong so that they became intoxicated in dance and rituals and to use it as a way of loosing themselves.
Dance and music became a ritual together and started the geographical road of dancing!

Dancing has been put into loads of ancient cave paintings as you can see.
